Aug. 18: East Coast Surfing Championship

Hundreds of surfers will head to Virginia Beach for the East Coast Surfing Championship (ECSC), Aug. 18–25. These surfers will compete for titles, prizes and more in this regional competition. ECSC features much more than surfing. Spectators can also watch other beach-oriented sports and recreation, including volleyball, a boardwalk 5K run, swimsuit contest, live music and more.

Aug. 23: Virginia Beach FunkFest Beach Party

Embrace your funky side at the 10th Annual Virginia Beach FunkFest Beach Party. This free, family-friendly party at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront features live music, food and plenty of dancing. Groove to disco-era and funk bands, performing tunes that will have you reminiscing. All concerts take place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23–24 at the 24th Street stage. Preferred viewing tickets can be purchased.

Aug. 24: Coastal Craft Beer Festival

Neptune’s Park, located at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, will be transformed into a craft beer lover’s paradise on Saturday, Aug. 24. The 5th Annual Coastal Craft Beer Festival will showcase Virginia beers, ciders and seltzers, along with national and regional craft beers. Festival goers can sip over 65 beers from 30 breweries, enjoy live music, grab food from local food trucks and so much more.

Aug. 29: American Music Festival

The 26th Annual American Music Festival, presented by Chartway Federal Credit Union, is held at the stages along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Labor Day weekend. The festival is one of the longest-running music events in the nation. This year’s American Music Festival features performances by headliners Lee Brice, 311, +LIVE+ and Dashboard Confessional, along with performers on free stages as well.

August 31: Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon

The first-ever half marathon race comes to Virginia Beach Aug. 31–Sept. 1. The annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile race along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and boardwalk. If the half marathon is too much, enter to participate in the 5K race or one-mile race/walk.

Be sure to also see what national headliners are coming to Virginia Beach. The Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater hosts a number of popular bands, singers, rappers and more during the summer season. August will feature concert performances by:
