July 4: Stars & Stripes Explosion

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Virginia Beach with a “star-spangled” salute to America. The Stars & Stripes Explosion begins with live music on multiple stages, from 17th to 31st Streets. The highlight of the evening is the spectacular firework display that will light up the sky. This event is free and open to the public.

July 6: Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion Art Festival

Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion brings vibrant art to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Professional and amateur artists turn the boardwalk into their canvas during this event. Each participant can create a 4x4 foot chalk drawing on the boardwalk. This year’s theme is “A Big, Beautiful World.” There is no fee to observe and participant.

July 19–21: Treasures of the Earth Gem and Jewelry Show

This gem, mineral and jewelry show features estate, classic, handcrafted and fashion jewelry made with a variety of metals. Treasures of the Earth Gem and Jewelry Show attendees can also view an array of minerals, fossils and crystals. There will be jewelers and wire wrappers on site to design, remount and repair jewelry. Guests can also have their jewelry appraised by a gemologist.

July 20: 4th Annual Ice Cream Festival

July is National Ice Cream Month. Celebrate at Virginia Beach’s Ice Cream Festival. Beat the summer heat with plenty of ice cream, as well as ice cream-themed crafts, games and activities. Olaf the snowman will also be there to take pictures. The special “Founding Flavors” program will feature tastings of five of America’s founding fathers’ and mothers’ favorite flavors.

July 24: Art Crush

Join staff at Virginia MOCA for an after-hours, unconventional tour of the museum’s current exhibits. Art Crush begins with drinks and games. Afterwards, enjoy a one-of-kind experience as you tour Virginia MOCA’s galleries. 

Be sure to also see what national headliners are coming to Virginia Beach. The Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater hosts a number of popular bands, singers, rappers and more during the summer season. July will feature concert performances by:
