As the heart of Virginia Beach, the Oceanfront boardwalk is a must while on vacation in this laid-back, fun and exciting city. King Neptune, pictured above, is the symbol of the Virginia Beach boardwalk and has been a favorite spot to snap a photo for decades. Along with King Neptune are dozens of other attractions while strolling down the strip. The boardwalk offers a spacious walking path that has entry after entry leading to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the walking or running path, there is a bike path for those who would rather bike, skate or even roller blade.

Try the famous Orange Crush
Waterman’s Surfside Grille is located right directly next to the boardwalk and has been a favorite oceanfront dining area since 1981. But what makes this oceanfront dining spot so popular is their very own Orange Crush. If hear these two words in Virginia Beach, you should automatically think of Waterman’s. With boardwalk access from the outside bar, Sunday brunch and free valet and parking, there is plenty to experience when dining at Waterman’s Surfside Grille.
Grab an appetizer at Chix Sea Grill & Bar
Famous for their crab dip, Chix on 7th street is home to some of the freshest seafood in Virginia Beach. People travel from all over to have a taste of their wide menu items while listening to live music right outside the patio. Local bands play every night of the week during season until 10 p.m. and then an additional band plays inside until midnight. Be sure to enjoy the weather, food and entertainment at the local’s favorite seafood bar!
Test your courage
Located on 15th street is the Virginia Beach Amusement Park, which may not be a Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion, but will sure bring some twists and turns to your day at the boardwalk! Those who are brave enough climb aboard the Skyscraper, a thrill ride that throws you up 165 feet in the air at 65 mph. There are also rides such as the Cosmic Storm, Hurricane, Music Express and, of course, rides dedicated to the kiddies. With the exception of the Skyscraper at just $20, you can purchase tickets for all the rides or just simply walk around and watch everyone’s reactions!
Relax in the grass

The Neptune’s Park at 31st street provides a vast area for anyone and everyone to take a break from walking and listen to free concert series all summer long and various special events throughout the rest of the year. Party on a rooftop
If you are craving a night to dress up and go out on the town, then Skybar is the perfect destination. Overlooking all of Virginia Beach, Sky Bar is a private club that requires an updated membership card, but additional entry is acceptable for those who follow their dress code. Come on a Thursday night when ladies get in for free. Or class up your Sunday for Champagne Sunday parties. Fish off a pier
As the only pier accessible from the boardwalk, the 15th Street Virginia Beach Fishing Pier is the perfect spot to fish or enjoy of a view of the ocean. If you do decide to fish, you may catch species such as trout, bluefish, red drum, king mackerel, rays and pompano. There is also a Pier Gift Shop with unique souvenirs, fishing necessities and road-and-reel rentals. If you forgot to pack lunch, don’t worry! There is a snack bar/restaurant located on the pier for your convenience. Hours vary by season, but there is no fishing license required so grab the family, enjoy the view and catch your dinner!
