Holiday Lights Maola Milk Merry Mile

When: November 22–December 30, 2018 Where: 2nd Street & the Boardwalk Hours of Operation: Sunday–Thursday: 5:30–10 p.m., Friday–Saturday: 5:30–11 p.m. 

Holiday Lights at the beach is a holiday tradition that brings joy and wonder to Hampton Roads every holiday season! 2017 brought a new experience to the boardwalk at Holiday Lights Maola Milk Merry Mile—a nautical and holiday fantasy of lights spread over a dozen blocks from 8th Street to 22nd Street. The light show featured over 50 of our most popular, hand-picked displays along the boardwalk and beach.

This is a ticketed event. All vehicles enter through the main entrance at 2nd Street. Show starts at 8th Street. Cash only is accepted at the gate. 


Holiday Parade at the Beach
When: December 1, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. Where: Atlantic Avenue between 15th and 25th Streets Cost: FREE

Santa Claus comes to Virginia Beach in the annual Holiday Parade at the Beach. Joy to the beach! Join the celebration as huge balloons, marching bands, colorful floats, trained horses, Virginia Beach firemen and musical numbers march their way down Atlantic Avenue. Make this a holiday tradition for your family and come join the fun!


Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler

J&A Racing brings you the Great Outdoor Provision Co. Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler, presented by Bon Secours In Motion, on Dec. 15, 2018. Participants can choose between a five-piece Santa suit or an official race shirt during registration to prepare them for their run through a nautical holiday wonderland along the Atlantic Ocean. The event is held at twilight along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk so runners can enjoy the Holiday Lights Merry Mile and a festive evening filled with holiday spirit.

All participants will receive awesome swag including a five-piece Santa Suit or race shirt, a unique medal, a finisher’s item and more. Best of all, all participants are invited to the post-race party inside the Virginia Beach Convention Center, featuring live music, brews from Samuel Adams and other goodies.


Last Night on the Town
When: Thursday, December 31 at 2 p.m.–Friday, January 1 at midnight Where: Pembroke Mall and The Town Center of Virginia Beach Cost: FREE

Ring in 2019 during Virginia Beach’s Last Night on the Town. Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Pembroke Mall and Virginia Beach’s Town Center. The festivities kick off mid-afternoon at Pembroke Mall with family entertainment throughout the mall by Magical Solutions, Inc., including a children’s countdown and balloon drop at 5 p.m. Enjoy musical entertainment by Mosaic Steel Orchestra outside of the mall. The fun continues until midnight at Town Center with live music on multiple stages. This year’s headline band is national recording artist 10,000 Maniacs! A midnight countdown with a spectacular laser light show and a Virginia Beach Ball Drop celebration will ring in 2019!

All activities and entertainment are free and open to the public, with food and adult beverages available for purchase. Free parking will be available for all attendees in the Town Center garages, with overflow parking at Pembroke Mall.
