There are several ways to celebrate the holiday season in Virginia Beach. One of the most popular events is the Holiday Lights Merry Mile. This is your chance to take a drive on the boardwalk and view fantastic and festive light displays.
About the Holiday Lights Merry Mile
Take a festive and magical drive down the Virginia Beach Boardwalk during the BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights Merry Mile. This local tradition lights up the Oceanfront nightly with brightly colored lights from Nov. 22 through Dec. 31.
You’ll be able to drive your car directly on the boardwalk. Along the way, view the light displays, with themes such as nautical, holiday, adventure lands and more. During your drive, tune your car’s radio for a soundtrack of traditional holiday music.
The boardwalk illumination begins nightly at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Virginia Beach’s Holiday Lights Merry Mile has been named one of American Bus Association’s “Top 100 Events in North America” and one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s “Top 20 November Events.” Over 20,000 families, both visitors and locals, make their way to Virginia Beach each year for this unique light show and holiday tradition.
