Just a short drive from the oceanfront is a Virginia Beach treasure: Hunt Club Farm, a family-owned and operated farm offering agricultural-based entertainment and education for all walks of life and every generation.   

About Hunt Club Farm

Hunt Club Farm has a rich history, dating back to the 1760s when the area was mostly farmland. The original home still stands and is currently being restored. John and Mary Vogel purchased the property in the 1960s.  On the family farm, the Vogel’s son John, otherwise known as J.D., learned an appreciation for nature and a love of farm life.  

After graduating from Kellam High School, J.D. became a farrier; he also started growing produce on the farm and selling it via a small market at the front of the property. Every fall, he sold pumpkins at the market and offered hayrides to school children. His Haunted Hayride, the first of its kind in the area, was a quick favorite. He then purchased a greenhouse, started cultivating seeds, and began a spring Children’s Garden Field Trip to educate local school children about farm life, including plants and animals.  

In 1999, J.D. hired Randi LaMark, a pharmaceutical sales representative, to help coordinate his fall activities. The two fell in love and married the following year. Today, with the help of their sons, Nicholas and Taylor, and their close farm staff, the Vogel’s strive to make Hunt Club Farm the area’s premier agritourism attraction.  

Petting Farm, BirdWalk Aviary and the NEW TreeWalk Adventure:

A favorite destination of locals and visitors alike, Hunt Club Farm’s Petting Farm is home to dozens of friendly animals, fascinating fowl, and brightly colored birds! Come on out and pet a pig, ride a pony, feed a goat, or chase a chicken.  Our animals love visitors.  

While exploring the Petting Farm, take a gander at our gorgeous geese, guinea hens, and turkeys or stroll through our BirdWalk Aviary, where our pretty parakeets and delightful doves coo and chatter.    

For a panoramic view of the farm, we invite you to climb on our NEW TreeWalk Adventure.  This fantastic in-air playground offers kids of all ages a truly unique experience. Climb from treehouse to treehouse along 10- & 12-foot-tall wooden bridges and cargo-netting, learn about animal life in the branches above, take a slide to the ground below to enjoy the pond, or walk a ramp to visit the animals. TreeWalk Adventure is designed with safety in mind, so everyone can explore and learn to their heart’s content! 

Hunt Club Farm is also home to 15 ponies of various sizes. You’ll love learning about Pearl, Bucket, and all the farm’s equine beauties.  You might even enjoy a pony ride. Our ponies can accommodate tiny tots to pre-teens and just about every kid in between.

Hunt Club Farm’s Seasonal Farm Market

Hunt Club Farm’s original Farm Market offers something new each season.  Visit the farm in the spring for gorgeous potted and hanging plants, farm-made food items, and novelty gifts.  Enjoy some ice cream on a warm summer day, or pick a pumpkin in the fall.  During the holiday season, we offer a large selection of Virginia-grown Fraser Fir trees.  Stop by to sip some hot chocolate while you shop for that unique gift.  We offer handmade wreaths and ornaments, delicious holiday-themed goodies, and specialty items like birdhouses and old-fashioned Santas. 

Featured Events at Hunt Club Farm

Hunt Club Farm is a proud part of Virginia Beach’s agricultural heritage, offering agricultural-based entertainment and educational activities throughout the year.   

Join us in the spring for our Spring Fling and Easter Egg Hunt, when children delight in exploring the farm as they search for over 35,000 Easter eggs.    

Are you looking for something new for your child to do this summer? Enroll them in our Summer Farm Camp!   Your child will love the hands-on experiences with our farm animals and the opportunity to try new activities and make new friends.  At Hunt Club Farm’s Summer Farm Camp, we encourage a love of nature and an appreciation for all living things.   

The fun is for everyone when you visit Hunt Club Farm.  Our Harvest Fair features a giant Pumpkin Patch with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes!  If you’re over 21, you might love our Thirsty Thursdays, showcasing specialty spirits and music in keeping with our always frightening Haunted Hunt Club Farm.  Come on out to meet our ghouls, goblins, and ghosts.  The scares lurk around every corner of our featured Halloween events, including kid-friendly walking attractions, a haunted hayride, and a haunted house.

We also offer various fun-inspired sponsored events featuring locally made food, beer, wine, and live music.  

Hosting Your Special Event at Hunt Club Farm

Visiting Hunt Club Farm

Hunt Club Farm Market is open to the public. (Rates mare subject to change.)

Petting Farm admission is $12 per person (ages two and under are no charge).   

Petting Farm admission includes our BirdWalk Aviary and NEW TreeWalk Adventure.  

Pony rides are $5 per ride.  We can accommodate riders up to age 12 or 120 lbs.
