Family owned and operated since 2003, Murphy’s Irish Pub brings traditional Irish food, local seafood, and nightly live entertainment to the Virginia Beach community.
The original Murphy’s opened in Alexandria, VA in 1978 and when the opportunity arose to open a beach location, Tom and Ann Mooney knew their commercial fishing experience and background would bring a unique twist to an Irish pub at the oceanfront.
Here at Murphy’s, you’ll find your pub favorites on our menu right next to fresh, local seafood options. Our commercial boats are out daily, bringing you the most in-season fish, crabs, and freshly harvested oysters.
In 2019, the Mooney family even began their very own oyster farm on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Back Creek Oyster Company® is located off the Chesapeake Bay’s historic Tangier Sound, which is known for producing the best oysters and soft-shell crabs in the world. Their Back Creek Beauties®, available daily from our Raw Bar, have lived up to the standard set and are a locals favorite. Whether you’re looking for the best Corned Beef & Cabbage or hook to plate seafood, Murphy’s has you covered.
As “your home away from home,” Murphy’s constantly strives to create a comfortable, inviting atmosphere for our guests to enjoy. With the largest four-sided fireplace in Virginia Beach for the winter months, and a lively outdoor patio and bar with a new outdoor stage for the summer months, Murphy’s is the place to be all year long.
Conveniently located in the Old Beach neighborhood, within walking and biking distance to the boardwalk, we are a locals’ favorite and a tourist destination.
