Pier fishing is the perfect choice for anglers who don’t have a boat. Fishing from a pier allows you to drop your line straight down for bottom fishing, or cast out far to reel in some bigger fish.

Pier Fishing in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach’s piers are located on saltwater beaches. To pier fish in Virginia Beach, anglers will need to follow the rules and regulations set forward by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. A Virginia Saltwater Fishing License is not required for pier fishing, but is for fishing on the beach.

Where to Pier Fish in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach Fishing Pier

Located right off the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, between 14th and 15th Streets, is the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier. Fishing on the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier offers an opportunity to reel in a variety of fish, including croaker, king fish, trout, bluefish, red drum, Spanish mackerel and more.

While there, you can also purchase bait and tackle, rent rods and reels, and enjoy a meal at Ocean Eddie’s Seafood Restaurant.

To fish off the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, it costs $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Little Island Fishing Pier

Just south of the Oceanfront in Sandbridge is a family-friendly park with plenty to do. Little Island Park boasts a recently renovated 400-foot fishing pier that’s perfect for casting a line. Off the pier, anglers can catch Atlantic mackerel, drum, bluefish, croaker, flounder, striped bass, tautog and gray trout.

Fishing at Little Island Fishing Pier is $8 for residents and $10 for non-residents. Weekly and annual fishing passes are also available. Little Island Fishing Pier is open seven days a week. From 6 a.m.–9 p.m. May 1–Oct. 31. Check posted hours from Nov. 1–April 15.
