Attend a Fall Festival

From September through November, fall festivals will pop up all around Virginia Beach. These festivals can involve your favorite fall activities, including pumpkin picking, trick-or-treating, sipping cider and more. Or, get a taste of Virginia Beach’s local wine, beer and food at one of these festivals.

Take Your Pets to the Beach

While the weather outside may not be best relax in the surf and sand, this time of year is perfect for bringing your pets to the beach. After Labor Day weekend, dogs are able to enjoy the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and the city’s public beaches. They’ll love getting to run along Virginia Beach’s miles of coastline.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin

When you visit Virginia Beach, head south to Pungo—the city’s agricultural community. Pungo is known for its “you-pick farms.” Throughout the year, you can browse and pick your own locally grown fruits and vegetables to take home or back to your hotel. During fall, pick out a pumpkin for carving to baking into a delicious pumpkin pie.

Have Frightening Fun

Whether you prefer tricks or treats, the Halloween season offers plenty to do in Virginia Beach. Take part in family-friendly frights or a more chilling experience. Hunt Club Farm offers both through the month of October. Or, join one of the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum’s Ghost Walks to learn about Virginia Beach’s haunted history.

Explore the Great Outdoors

Virginia Beach has several scenic locales that are great for outdoor exploration. Hike along the marshlands of False Cape State Park. Kayak through the Back Bay. Spend a day at First Landing State Park or attend the First Landing Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023.

Virginia Beach has a burgeoning craft beer scene. Visit these local breweries, many of them pet friendly and family friendly, to get a taste of local beer.
