1.    Hit the Beach One Last Time

A trip to Virginia Beach is best capped off by spending some time in the surf and sand. Visit all three of Virginia Beach’s beach areas, from Chic’s Beach to the Oceanfront to Sandbridge Beach. Even though school is back in session, a summer weekend is the perfect time to bring the whole family out for one last day at the beach.

2.    Make a Splash at Ocean Breeze Waterpark

Ocean Breeze Waterpark is Virginia Beach’s only waterpark. The park features rides, slides and other aquatic attractions, perfect for kids and adults. Spend a day at Ocean Breeze Waterpark racing down thrilling water slides, floating down the lazy river, tackling the wave pool or just relaxing poolside. Ocean Breeze closes for the summer season on Sunday, Sept. 8.

3.    Hit the Waves on a Jet Ski

If you are looking for an exciting day on the water, you can find waverunners and jet ski rentals up and down the beach. Let the breeze blow through your hair as you hit speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. Choose from one-, two- or three-person jet skis to take out into the open ocean for some serious fun.

4.    Have a Meal Outside

Virginia Beach has a number of fantastic restaurants, perfect for every appetite and budget. From family friendly and casual to fine dining and romantic—you can find a restaurant for every occasion. Before the summer season ends, enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner on an outdoor patio. You’ll not only have a great meal but also a fantastic view of the city or beach.

5.    Enjoy a Drink at an Oceanfront Bar

6.    Catch a Show from Live! On Atlantic

Live! On Atlantic provides nightly entertainment at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront during the summer season. The sidewalks from 17th to 25th Streets become stages for lively performers, including singers, magicians and more. Live! On Atlantic continues with its performances on the weekends, Sept. 6–7, 13–14 and 20–21.

7.    Spend the Day at First Landing State Park

There’s never a bad time of year to visit First Landing State Park but summer is certainly one of the best times of year for outdoor adventure. Located in north Virginia Beach, First Landing State Park is a 3,000-acre park perfect for hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, camping and more. Bring the kids to learn about nature and the native wildlife during one of the park’s summer programs.

8.    Take a Boat Tour or Charter a Boat

There are several outfitters that offer boat tours along Virginia Beach’s miles of coastline and expansive waterways. On these tours, you can learn about the area’s military history, spot dolphins, take in the sights or simply enjoy the view.
